Did nothing all year? Yeah, me too. (Except...)

Hi Reader,

Just popping into your inbox to wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy 2026 πŸ’›β€‹β€‹

You know that feeling where you're convinced you did absolutely nothing all year... then you actually look back and go "wait, I did a bunch of stuff"?

I kept telling myself I wasn't accomplishing anything for most of 2025.

But when I finally sat down and wrote it out, here's what my year actually looked like:

  • Travelled to Japan
  • Made 14 YouTube videos (including 3 data science + AI tutorials and 2 AI roadmaps)
  • Completed my Python for AI course and added new content
  • Finished my second BSc in Computer Science (which dragged on for 6 years)
  • Read/listened to 16 books
  • Filled a 100-page sketchbook journal
  • Made a little human (who's now running my sleep schedule 🐣)

Turns out I've done way more than I thought!

Looking back, a few things really stood out:

The "perfect time" never comes.

Every single thing on that list above happened at an inconvenient moment.

Traveling for 3 weeks while my projects weren't done.

Finishing the last module of my degree just a month before baby arrived πŸ˜….

Picking up a book while having a dozen chores waiting (you've gotta be kidding me!).

Nothing felt like the "right" time, but I'm so glad I did it anyway.

I was getting distracted by all the noise.

2024 (on LinkedIn or X): "This will be the year of AI agents!"

2025 (on LinkedIn or X): "THIS is the year of AI agents!"

The truth is, there's still a massive gap between hype and reality in actual business adoption.

I spent way too much energy worrying about staying "relevant" and not "getting behind" instead of just learning and building useful stuff.

Commitment beats motivation.

Honestly, there were sooo many days this year where I had zero motivation. I felt like a complete sloth, physically and mentally πŸ¦₯.

But when I started working with my video editor in May, I knew she was waiting for footage twice a month. That commitment kept me going, NOT motivation.

Turns out, showing up and having someone checking in on you matter way more than feeling inspired.

So here's a little challenge for you:

Write down what you did in 2025.

I bet your list is longer than you think. And I bet you're being way too hard on yourself.

Here's to an amazing 2026 πŸŽ‰,

Thu

Hello Reader, In this newsletter, I'm sharing my recent lightbulb on procrastination that's changed how I work, and at the end of this newsletter I've compiled for you a list of my recent Python + AI project tutorials. I hope they are helpful for what you're doing/ learning at the moment. Have fun reading! 🧐 What if it were easy? I've been procrastinating on a GraphRAG tutorial for months. Which is strange, because I actually find the topic interesting. I wanted to make this tutorial. Okay,...

Hello Reader, I started my career exactly 10 years ago as a data analyst in healthcare. I loved every bit of it. The puzzle-solving. Digging into a messy dataset and slowly making sense of it. Writing code to clean and transform data exactly the way I needed. Building a visualisation and watching the story emerge. There was something deeply satisfying about that mechanical, hands-on part of the work. Because that's how I got to learn the skills. Today, AI can do much of it. Whether you're new...

Hello Reader, I recently experimented with vision language models to analyze 5 years of my handwritten journal entries. Trust me, you're going to love this one πŸ˜‰. Every 5 years or so, I feel the urge to reassess my life - figure out where I'm going and who I'm becoming. I've been journaling on a regular basis. Just with pen and paper, writing down what I'm thinking and what's happening. Then I had an idea. What if I scanned all those pages, used a vision model to extract the text, and then...
